|Everyone is excited about the first day of school, but sometimes children and their families can experience some anxiety around “The Big Day.” At CUSA, we decided to lessen the first day jitters by making the day FUN! CUSA’s theme this year is “Broadway” so we rolled out the red carpet for our “Celebrity Scholars”. Staff members dressed up and walked the red carpet with their students. Paparazzi were even on site to take pictures of our Celebrity Scholars! Click here to view our programme and see the stars of our school!|
|Chester Upland School of the Arts (CUSA) serves students in grades PreK - 5.|
|With offerings in Dance, Visual Arts, and Music, CUSA is an elementary program with a focus on the creative and performing arts. CUSA has a dedicated principal and assistant principal, both with roots in the community and a dedicated staff committed to educating the whole child. The student accomplishments at the school have been featured in the Chester Spirit, the Delaware County Daily Times, and on WPVI Action News.|
|We are particularly proud of our ball room dancers who won first place during the Dancing Classrooms Philadelphia competition; and our visual arts students whose work was featured in the Arts on the Avenue Art Exhibit this year.
Beyond its focus on the arts, CUSA's students have achieved test scores which exceed those of rival charter schools, and prepare students for academic success in higher grades.
The general curriculum at CUSA is supported by the following resources: American Reading Company, Children’s Literacy Initiative, Go Math, and Scott Foresman Science and Social Studies. In addition, students receive extra help during Strategic Skills Instruction. We also have thoughtfully implemented Positive Behavior Intervention Support, (PBIS). Additional programs include our dynamic partnership with SIG Combibloc, PNC Bank, Saint Lukes Christian Community Church and Murphy AME Church.
